The cause of death of former MLB pitcher Brian Matter, who recently died, is known as "drug overdose."
Baltimore Banner, a local media outlet in Baltimore, told several stories related to Matter's "death" based on a police report secured on the 14th (Korea time). According to reports, Matter's body was found by his mother, Elizabeth, on the 7th. When Elizabeth did not open the door, she entered the house through the bathroom window, and Matter was lying with her back on the sofa. Baltimore Banner said, "It is said that he was cold with a white substance in his mouth," adding, "Lighters, straws, and small square aluminum foil were found on the floor near Matter's right hand."
It was also confirmed that two days before her death, Elizabeth took her to the emergency room. She was advised to seek assistance from a mental health professional, but did not hospitalize her separately, and she eventually passed away. "After losing her cell phone at the hospital, she went to her parents' house and went back to her house. When she could not reach her without a cell phone, Elizabeth went home," the Baltimore Banner said. "She told the police that although she had a history of drug use (removed specific substances), she had not used the drug for about eight months."
A native of Colorado, Matter was selected by Baltimore as the fourth overall pick in the first round of the 2008 rookie draft. His contract alone amounted to 3.2 million U.S. dollars. Since his debut in the big league in 2009, Matter has garnered attention by winning his first 10 wins in 280 games with 27 wins and 41 losses with an ERA of 4.92. He has also changed his position from starting pitcher to bullpen pitcher since 2013. After moving to the Atlanta Braves after moving to the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks in May 2016, Matter has disappeared from the big leagues since May 2017. 스포츠토토
